MSCI Offers Two New Regional Asian Indices: MSCI Zhong Hua and MSCI Golden Dragon

London, June 1, 2000. MSCI has enhanced its product portfolio with the addition of two new indices for the Asian region – the MSCI Zhong Hua and the MSCI Golden Dragon.

The MSCI Zhong Hua and MSCI Golden Dragon have been developed in response to the needs of global equity professionals with an interest in Asian markets. The indices are designed to reflect the aggregated investment opportunities across the equity markets of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

The MSCI Zhong Hua is an aggregate of the MSCI Hong Kong Index and the MSCI China Free Index.

The MSCI Golden Dragon is an aggregate of the MSCI Hong Kong Index, the MSCI China Free Index and the MSCI Taiwan@65% Index (the MSCI Taiwan index has an inclusion weight at 65% of its market capitalisation in the MSCI index series).

"Once again MSCI is delivering the cross-border benchmarks that investors are looking for," said John Fildes, Executive Director and Head of MSCI Asia.

The indices are calculated in US dollars with and without dividends reinvested. History back to December 31, 1992 is available for the MSCI Zhong Hua and back to September 2, 1996 for the MSCI Golden Dragon. Value and Growth style indices are also available for the MSCI Zhong Hua and the MSCI Golden Dragon.
